Yarra Pram Walks 2011

couple walking with pram in parkFamilies with babies, toddlers and young children are invited to come along on a Pram Walk during Walktober. Taking part in a Pram Walk is a great opportunity to get fit and meet people in your local community.

Each Pram Walk starts at 11.30am and will finish with a BYO picnic in a local park. Families are welcome to attend one or all of the walks.

Staff from Yarra Leisure will lead a series of fun exercises along the way, as well as a “perambulator workout”.

There is no need to RSVP, simply turn up at the meeting point or join us along the way. If you have trouble finding the group, please call Cheryl Cameron, Council’s Resource and Support Officer on 0413 688 423.

Pram Walk Meeting Points

  • Walk One – Fitzroy Pram Walk, Tuesday 18 October, 11.30am
    Meet at Fitzroy Maternal & Child Health Centre (cnr Moor and Young streets, Fitzroy) and walk to the Fitzroy Gardens.
  • Walk Two  - Princes Hill Pram Walk, Wednesday 19 October, 11.30am
    Meet at the Princes Hill Maternal & Child Health Centre (cnr Wilson and Pigdon streets, North Carlton). Walk around Princes Park and back to Hardy Gallagher Reserve.
  • Walk Three – Richmond Pram Walk, Thursday 20 October, 11.30am
    Meet at either the North Richmond Maternal & Child Health Centre (215 Church Street) or the South Richmond Maternal & Child Health Centre (415 Church Street) and walk to Burnley Park.
  • Walk Four – Alphington Pram Walk, Friday 21 October, 11.30am
    Meet at the Alphington Maternal & Child Health Centre (54 Yarralea Street Alphington)  and walk to Alphington Park.
  • Walk Five – North Fitzroy Pram Walk, Wednesday 26 October, 11.30am
    Meet at the North Fitzroy Maternal & Child Health Centre (Alfred Crescent North Fitzroy) and walk to the Darling Gardens.
  • Walk Six – Collingwood Pram Walk, Thursday 27 October, 11.30am
    Meet at the Collingwood Neighbourhood House (ground floor, 253 Hoddle Street) and walk to the Collingwood Children’s Farm.

Koorie Stories and Songs

elebrate Reconciliation week at the Fitzroy Library (128 Moor Street) with a night of Koorie stories and songs.

Aboriginal singer-songwriters will perform amongst the books in this free event that will celebrate music, story and the spirit of reconciliation.

This free event will take place on Wednesday 30 May from 6.30pm-8pm.

Showcasing future voices to watch in the arena of political writing and commentary, our five panellists have diverse interests and experience, and are ready to engage in public debate on the issues of the day.

This free event will take place on Tuesday 29 May from 7.30pm – 8.30pm.
