New Yarra Reporter Workshops are Starting Mid-July

Every Wednesday and Thursday night from 6:00-8:0pm; starting on the 13th and 14th of July, Yarra reporter will be running training workshops on Civic Journalism and photogphay. 

Wednesday nights -  Journalism:  Have a story to tell?  Have local issues you want to talk about?

Learn how to; find, research and write stories that matter to you.  These class will run every wednesday night for 8 weeks.

Thursday nights - Photojournalism:  -  A photo tells a 1000 words. Learn how to use that to tell your stories. 

These workshops will cover everything from the basics of how to use a camrea, to more advance ways of taking photos, editing photos, and at the end getting your work ready to be uploaded to the internet or printed.   These classes will run every night for 4 weeks.

In August Keep an eye out for our Creative Writing and Video Journalism Classes.

Koorie Stories and Songs

elebrate Reconciliation week at the Fitzroy Library (128 Moor Street) with a night of Koorie stories and songs.

Aboriginal singer-songwriters will perform amongst the books in this free event that will celebrate music, story and the spirit of reconciliation.

This free event will take place on Wednesday 30 May from 6.30pm-8pm.

Emerging QandA

Based on the popular TV show Q&A, Emerging QandA is a political commentary chat show presented live at the Fitzroy Town Hall’s Reading Room (201 Napier Street).

Showcasing future voices to watch in the arena of political writing and commentary, our five panellists have diverse interests and experience, and are ready to engage in public debate on the issues of the day.

This free event will take place on Tuesday 29 May from 7.30pm – 8.30pm.
