The City of Melbourne and Melbourne Library Service are proud to announce the inagural Lord Mayor's Creative Writing Awards.
This exiting initiative aims to support and foster emerging writers in community.
The Awards mark the city of Melbourne's status as the second UNESCO City of Literature.
The Awards are open to all emerging writers residing in Victoria. A prize of $1000 will be awarded to the winner in each category.
The main prize is the Lord Mayor's Award of $5000 which will be choosen from the four winning entries.
In addition there is a Younger Writers' Award of $1000 open to entrants aged 25 or younger as at 31st August 2009. This award will be choosen from entries across all categories.
All winners will be published.
Submit your entries in one or more of the following categories:
* Short Story
* Poetry
* Three Hour Book (Print format)
* Three Hour Book (E-book Format)
Submissions close on 31st August 2009
Winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony in November 2009.
