Master Congolese musician and choreographer who has enthralled audiences worldwide, teaching Congolese'soukous'/rumba dance style to anyone who is interested.
Dance classes for anyone with a love of dance or African rhythm and dance. Soukous dancing is explosive, fun, lively and playful, connecting body and spirit. It will have a positive impact on your physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health, and shift your focus from the stresses and strains of everyday life, to a happier, well-rounded outlook.
Classes will cater for all age-groups, and be taught in a structured class situation which is fun and easy to follow.
The complex poly-rhythms of the rumba/soukous styles will be broken down into a number of segments, each incorporating a specific part of the body, starting with the feet, and moving slowly through hip, arm and shoulder movements. By the end of a 6 or 8 week season, participants will have learnt the choreography to confidently perform one or two 5-6 minute pieces of soukous music.
Passi Jo's own CDs of original Soukous music will be available for $20 at each class
