Children's Week Picnic

Childrens FarmCelebrate International Children's Week at a picnic at the Collingwood Children's Farm.

Bring along your picnic goodies and join in making damper, milking a cow (10am and 4pm), feeding the farm animals and having your face painted! Entry to the farm is free on this day.

GLBTIQ Youth Expo

GLBTIQ rainbow Council is holding a free expo for young people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex, or unsure about their sexuality.

The day will provide an opportunity for young people to hang out, and enjoy food, music, entertainment, workshops and much more!

Moon Lantern Festival

Held on the grounds of the North Richmond Housing Estate, the traditional Moon Lantern Festival is a time for the community to come together, feast and tell stories as they celebrate the harvest moon.

Delight in the wonderful Moon Lantern Parade, lantern making workshops, contemporary and traditional music and dance, food, and the firework finale.

Learn how to get your writing published?

Join Scribe Publishing editors Ian See and Julia Carlamagno for an informative seminar on how to get your writing published.
Ian and Julia will reveal how they assess a manuscript’s suitability for publication and provide attendees with expert advice on how to improve the probability of publication.
Scribe is a Melbourne-based and independent book publishing company of serious non-fiction and quality fiction.

Hand Stitched Artist Book Workshop

Kylie Blackley from the Nicholas Building Print Workshop will run a special class on hand stitching artist books.

Each participant will leave this workshop with their own traditional bickram clothed hardcover, hand stitched, hammered spine artist book and a recipe for archival glue.

By learning this stitching technique and discussing traditional processes and materials, participants will leave with the ability to hand bind their own archival artist books.

The Housing Project

Artists Sue McCauley, Keith Deverell, Ann Ferguson, Chris Knowles and Angus Durkin have created a playful, interactive sound and sculpture installation.

This work will engage with current issues surrounding housing, shelter and urban design.

New Yarra Reporter Workshops are Starting Mid-July

Every Wednesday and Thursday night from 6:00-8:0pm; starting on the 13th and 14th of July, Yarra reporter will be running training workshops on Civic Journalism and photogphay. 

Free - Basic Internet use, training workshops

Next week Thursday (16th of June) and on the Thursday the week after that (23th of June) Infoxchange is offering a free 2 Hour Basic internet  training workshop.
 

This workshop is for people who have had little experience with the internet but want to learn.  These workshops will go through the all the basics of how to find and view websites, and how to use some commonly used websites such as centerlink.
 

Free - Basic computer use, training workshops

Next week Tuesday (14th of June) and on the Tuesday the week after that (21th of June) Infoxchange is offering a free 2 Hour Basic computer training workshop. 

This workshop is for people who have had little experience with computers but want to learn.  These workshops will go through the all the basics of how to use a computer, and also some commonly used software. 

The workshops start at the very basics so no matter how little experience with computers you have had, don’t be afraid to come down.

yR trainees ready to graduate

yarraReporter is an intensive program that trains City of Yarra public housing residents in multimedia and journalism, with the current cadets preparing to graduate.
The yarraReporter is located in Atherton Gardens and is known to many people to provide a broad accessible introduction to the world of journalism. For every eight week training course yarraReporter provides an opportunity for Yarra residents who are willing to learn and engage with the community.
